9 “Push” Presents that New Mothers Deserve
For nine months, she has suffered through swollen feet, backaches, heartburn, sleepless nights, raging hormones and a number of other physical and emotional changes that come with growing a baby. Now on top of all of that, she had to spend hours in painful labor to deliver your new bundle of joy. Do you think she deserves a push present for all of her hard work? Yeah, we think so!
“Push presents have been around for a while but have grown more popular within the past decade,” says Lisa Wilson, a physician with Novant Health Providence OB/GYN. “Of course your baby is a miracle and a gift all on its own. But it doesn’t hurt to give the new mother in your life a little gift to let her know you appreciate her and all she has gone through.”
We put together some great push present ideas that range from thoughtful to practical.
Push Present Idea #1: Necklace with Initials
You really can never go wrong with jewelry, and you can add a personal touch to mark the special day.
Many retailers allow you to personalize necklaces. You can engrave the necklace with your new child’s initials or name. Another beautiful and popular necklace idea is a bar necklace engraved with your child’s name or birthdate in Roman numerals. It can be found on Etsy.
No matter what, it’s a gift that will be held close to your loved one’s heart.
Push Present Idea #2: A Charm Bracelet
You can give the mother of your child the bracelet with a few charms on it to start, such as your child’s initials and your child’s birthstone. Pandora has great charm bracelets and charms that you can collect.
This is a gift that you can keep adding to as your family goes through significant moments in life, like maybe another child.
Push Present Idea #3: Additional Band to Go With Wedding Ring
Give her a band that complements her wedding ring. This new band can represent the child in your life and the next adventure you two are about to take.
Every time she looks down at her left hand she will be reminded of the two biggest days in her life.
Push Present Idea #4: A Spa Day
It may be some time before the new mama in your life wants to leave the house without her baby, but when she does, she’s going to need some pampering.
Give her a gift certificate to a spa in Charlotte, like the Ballantyne Hotel or the Ritz-Carlton (c’mon she deserves it!), where she can get a relaxing massage, a facial and/or a manicure and pedicure. She will come home refreshed and ready to take on more diaper changes and feedings.
Push Present Idea #5: A Good Nursery Chair
This is where she will spend a lot of time feeding, burping and rocking your child, so you want to make sure she has a comfortable chair.
One thing you’ll want to think about when buying the chair is if it’s easy to get in and out of. You don’t want to spend 30 minutes to an hour rocking your little one to sleep and then waking them up when you’re having trouble getting out of the chair.
Push Present Idea #6: A Subscription Box Full of Goodies
The months after your child’s birth can seem like a crazy time, filled with diapers, bottles and onesies, and your significant other will forget to treat herself.
There are subscription boxes, like Birchbox and Fab Fit Fun, that will deliver a box of goodies to your home. It’s full of skincare, makeup and hair products that your loved one may not usually spend on herself.
Push Present Idea #7: Stylish Diaper Bag
Your significant other may refuse to get the minivan or the mom jeans, but she will still need to carry a diaper bag with her. You can help her be the cool mom with a super nice designer diaper bag.
One of the most popular designer diaper bags is the Coach Baby Tote. It doesn’t even look like a diaper bag!
Push Present Idea #8: A Voice Assistant
Who is going to need a voice assistant more than the mother of your child?
An Amazon Alexa or Google Home will tell her the weather, news and time without having to take her eye off your little one. It will also be super helpful when y’all are rocking your bundle of joy to sleep and need some soft and peaceful music playing in the background.
Push Present Idea #9: A Maid Service
This gift will come in handy when the two of you are consumed with messy baby clothes, dirty bottles and baby spit-up everywhere and don’t have the energy to clean it all up.
Some of the top maid services in Charlotte include Merry Maids of Charlotte and Molly Maid.
Having someone come to your home once a month will make a world of difference to your home and your sanity.
Some celebrities have received elaborate push presents. Jay-Z gave his wife Beyoncé a $35,000 blue diamond ring as an ode to their daughter Blue Ivy, according to People magazine. But some are just adorable. Marie Claire reports that Prince William gave his wife Kate Middleton a special, limited edition teddy bear from Harrods that she and the future King of England could enjoy together.
