5 Charlotte Winter Activities To Do Before Your Baby Arrives

5 Charlotte Winter Activities To Do Before Your Baby Arrives

Jan 25 2019

Before your life is overcome with diapers, bottles and little onesies, make sure you’re taking advantage of the exciting events happening in Charlotte during the winter. We also made sure that they will keep you and your bun in the oven out of the cold.

As you await the arrival of your new little bundle of joy, take advantage of this alone time with your significant other and take part in fun events happening around the Queen City during the cold winter months.

“Just because the temperatures drop, doesn’t mean you have to stay cooped up in the house during your final months as a family of two,” says Lisa Wilson, a physician with Novant Health Providence OB/GYN. “In fact, this is the time to get out and try new things while you can because pretty soon your little one will be ruling the roost!”

There are entertaining events going on in Charlotte during the next few months that include eating delicious food, seeing new home design trends and showing off your Charlotte pride!

Queens Feast

Are we the only ones that mark these 10 days on our calendar? No, we didn’t think so! Queen’s Feast is a celebration of amazing restaurants all over Charlotte that takes place between January 18 - January 27. It gives you a chance to try out that fancy restaurant that you’ve been dying to go to without breaking the bank.

The restaurants offer three-course, prix fixe dinners for just $30 or $35 per person. It’s recommended that you make a reservation because spots at restaurants can fill up quickly during the week.

Here is a list of all the restaurants participating. You can click on each one to see the prix fixe menus. Catch professional sports games this winter in Charlotte before your baby arrives.

Catch a Sports Game

Football season in the Queen City is over (insert sad emoji face) but now it’s time for basketball and hockey!

You can watch Kemba Walker and the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center from now until the month of April. Prices can fluctuate based on demand, but you can get tickets for around $15 (if you want the nosebleed section). Take a look at the Hornets schedule to see which one you want to go to!

If basketball isn’t your thing, then head out to Bojangles Coliseum to watch the Charlotte Checkers on the ice. Every home game has a special promotion or theme. Check out the Checkers schedule

Date Night at the Theater

A date night at the Belk Theater is a good excuse to switch out of your maternity leggings and get dressed up for the night.

There are some amazing shows that will be on stage this winter including Miss Saigon and Dear Evan Hansen.

No matter what you’re in the mood for, the Blumenthal Performing Arts is sure to have it. Check out their events and performance schedule

Embrace Your Inner Superhero

You are growing a human life, so to us you’re already a superhero!

But if you’re a huge fan of Marvel superheroes, we’re talking Spiderman, The Hulk and Captain America, then you should check out Marvel Universe LIVE! This event is great if you already have some little ones who want to see their favorite superheroes in action.

The Marvel Universe will be in Charlotte January 25 - January 27 at the Spectrum Center. Buy tickets here.

Get Ideas for Baby Nursery Decor

The Southern Spring Home and Garden Show will be back in the Queen City in February to show you the latest trends in home improvement, home decorating, landscaping and more.

There will even be a presentation from home improvement and DIY expert, Ty Pennington, who you will recognize from Trading Spaces and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

The show will be held for two weekends, February 22 - February 24 and March 1 - March 3, at the Park Expo and Conference Center. Tickets are $10.

We hope this list inspires you to try new experiences in 2019 before the most life-changing moment in your life happens!
